Park Guell of Barcelona

If you ever find yourself in Barcelona, it is essential that you spend at least one afternoon in the magnificent Parc Guell. You will love this place! Take your time and wander around following the little paths, looking at Gaudì's works of art.

Immerse yourselves in surrounding akin to those described in the tales of the Brothers Grimm. With its staircase at the entrance, the coulorful ceramic serpentine bench and the two curved roof houses covered with brightly colored tiles and ornamental spires, the park is like nothing you have ever seen. This popular park was originally projected as a residencial area by the catalan industrialist Eusebi Guell, but it was a failure. Gaudì, with the support of some other archictects, developed the project and worked on the garden village from 1900 to 1914. In 1918 the city acquired the property and in 1922 it was opened to the public as a park. Even if you take a casual walk around, you will find exciting new structures at every turn! And the more you walk the more fantastic creations you will discover! The Gran Placa Circular, which is bordered by the famous serpentine bench, is one of the best spots in the park. Enjoy the wonderful view over the city from the plaza, from where it is possible to make out the Mediterranean sea. The park is simply amazing and it was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1984. Don't miss it!
