Live and study in Barcelona

Rambla of Barcelona

La Rambla is the most famous street in Barcelona. It is a wide boulevard which connects Plaça de Catalunya to the monument erected in honor of Christopher Columbus. Even though La Rambla is one continuous street, it consists of five ramblas. For this reason this boulevard is frequentelly called Las Ramblas. La Rambla or Las Ramblas (whichever suits you best!) is often the first landmark that most tourists identify with the city. The boulevard, which cuts through the heart of the city centre, is a vibrant and lively promenade where you can discover the best (and sometimes the worst…) of Barcelona. Kiosks, flower stalls, animal stalls and street performers are in abundance here. La Rambla is a sort of street performers' paradise. One of the major attractions of walking down La Rambla, is being able to watch the numerous street performers, which include human statues, caricaturists and much more! Bring some of your loose change so that you can give a little to the ones you like most. They will really appreciate it! Or why not be a street performer yourself?! You will quickly be surrounded by people and will find yourself the centre of attention! Never a dull moment, eh?!

Rambla of Barcelona

La Rambla is Barcelona's most vibrant street, teeming with life at all hours of the day. To really enjoy La Rambla avoid the peak season. You will probably be disappointed if you vist it in August when the street is crowded with tourists. You will find lots of cafés and restaurants located here, but beware of tourist traps! Prices here are steep, but if you don't mind and you want to have lunch at an outdoor café to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the city, La Rambla would be the place to go. There is also plenty of accommodation along the boulevard. You can choose among hotels, hostels and apartments, although this are is not recommended if you're a light sleeper! It is advisable not to carry large amounts of cash here and to watch out for pickpockets at all times of the day. Be very careful of con artists as it is very common for people to try and cheat you out of money here. So, have fun on La Rambla but keep keep an eye out for petty thieves!
