Party and Nightlife in Barcelona

Hungry anyone? Barcelona is crammed with restaurants and bars of all shapes and sizes! Tourists should be aware that while trying the traditional Catalan cuisine is a must, prices tend to be high – not ideal if you’re on a tight budget.

The cheapest option is to go for tapas (small bites of food), which are served in bars all over the city. Tapas go down particularly well with a glass of wine or a beer. It’s definately the best way to eat more and less! Moreover, eating tapas is a typical Spanish activity and Barcelona is no exception! Some of the best catalan tapas include pa amb tomaquet (catalunian bread with tomatoes and garlic oil. It may be topped with Iberian ham, cheese and served along with meat, chicken or fish, tortilla (omelette) and patatas bravas (potatoes with spicy sauce). If you want to eat in a restaurant, look out for the ones with a special tourist menu on the outside. You can save a lot of money and you can have a three or four course meal. The best restaurants are usually located in the little streets and alleyways outside the city centre, where prices are more affordable. The seafood served in Barcelona is of excellent quality and a real treat for the tastebuds. And, for all the gourmands, taste the legendary crema catalana (a cinnamon and lemon flavored custard)! You won't be let down!

Let’s face it, one of Barcelona’s biggest attractions is its amazing nightlife.  The city is always crowded with locals,  tourists, students  and lot of foreigners. You can find every kind of bar or club! The party doesn’t usually get going until late, especially on the weekend. Start your evening  in one of the bars or cafés before going to a club. Bars get busy around 12.30 p.m and don´t even think of entering a club before 2am!! Clubs usually close at around 6a.m.
Most clubs and bars don’t charge an entrance fee, but if they do, it’s usually somewhere between 5 and 10€ depending on what night of the week it is or what DJ’s playing. If you have to pay an admission fee, ask if its amb consumició (drink included).
You can find lots of bars and clubs around Carrer Avinyó in the Barri Gotic, around Rambla del Raval in El Raval (but, caution if you go there...) and in the streets of El Born in La Ribera. The streets around Rambla de Catalunya and in the Eixample (north of the Plaça de Catalunya) are lively at night, with many cafes and bars.   Other hot spots are located in the Plaça del Sol in Gràcia, Plaça del Pi, and Plaça Reial in the Ciutat Vella.
Of the tons of bars and cafés in and around Barcelona, London Bar is well worth a visit. It dates back to 1910 and it used to be frequented by Dalì, Picasso and Hemingway!!! The atmosphere is lively and friendly, it's cheap and there is usually live music (lots of bars have live music!). The Miramelinda, with its incredible cocktails, is another must see. And lastly, Bristol Blue, with its 10 types of draft beer and more than 20 kinds of bottled beer, is the perfect place for having a drink and a laugh with your friends.
One of the most popular nightclubs is Razzmatazz. It is a five different rooms playing different kind of  music, meaning that it is frequented by quite a strange mix of people! The Baja Beach Club is the place to go to avoid boredom! This club has no airs and graces - just some good music to have a dance to! Barcelona is overflowing with night clubs  and you will soon be caught by a real night fever!
In most of clubs, the music varies according to what night of the week it is, so check it out before going. Also, keep an eye out for special nights hosted by famous international DJs.
